Visit Peach State

A last minute decision to come to Atlanta for the long weekend. Cleaned the house Saturday morning (a road trip routine), got an oil change, packed our luggage and hit the road to head down south! A 9-hour drive, only briefly stopped in Charlotte, NC for a quick bite. Exhausted by the end of the day, but seeing our dear friends and eating authentic Korean food was all worth it!

這趟真的猛！週五晚上和UN的朋友聊天後，決定開車來喬治亞州找他。週六一早把家裡整理乾淨（每次出門前的怪癖）、換好機油、整理好行李，直接上路！九小時車程，中間短暫停留北卡。雖然累爆，但見到朋友們的開心感加上能吃到好吃韓國料理，疲憊全消！

We probably overstuffed ourselves every meal, didn’t even skip dessert. Everything that we couldn’t eat but craved for back in Norfolk, we ordered!

我們餐餐吃超飽，甜點當然不能放過。只要在我們那吃不到的、想吃的，全部都吃過一次（好滿足啊！）

After 9-hour drive, we finally got to Atlanta, GA!

Thankful that our friend J let us stay at his place and showed us around A-town! (Did you get the hint on my Instagram Story?)

How I Celebrated My 29th Birthday

My original birthday week plan included lunch with friend on Monday, run the 9/11 remembrance 5K on Tuesday, volunteer and dinner with UN on Wednesday, work Thursday, camping on Friday, go to a social night on Saturday, and water park on Sunday!

But Hurricane Florence disrupted all of my plans! Bummer! After getting mandatory evacuation order from the governor, we started preparing for the hurricane on Monday. Us Californians never learned about hurricanes. On Wednesday, the day of my birthday, UN and I loaded all of our luggage into our car in lightning speed and started our evacuation before the hurricane hits and flood this area.

流水帳的記事法，但還是要把今年慶生週的妙事記下來，以防忘記！生日週原計畫是這樣的，週一和朋友吃飯，週二跑911紀念跑，週三我生日要去朋友家玩、下午和軍妻團做義工、晚上和UN慶生，週四工作，週五去露營，週六晚上參加歡迎晚會，週日去水上遊樂園！

結果颱風天，全部取消（感覺超消極）！朋友打電話來叫我們要準備好防備措施，但加州人的我們，完全沒經驗！週三（我生日當天）UN回到家後，我們用史上最快（不到10分鐘）的方式把家當全放到車裡，馬上出發離開隨時都會刮雨淹水的地方！

UN was able to book hotels and make a birthday dinner reservation before we hit the road to DC! I even got to do SoulCycle for three days straight! We went museum hopping the four days we were there.

UN最強，竟然下班後馬上訂好飯店、餐廳，全部行程都準備好！連行程裡都包括早上要上SoulCycle，太貼心了！來DC一定要做的事就是參觀博物館，這次四天，天天都到不同的博物館報到！

This time we were in DC we dined at a new restaurant called China Chilcano. Its owner is the Founder of World Central Kitchen. This is definitely a restaurant we will revisit.

這次新試的一家餐廳China Chilcano，老闆是World Central Kitchen的創辦人。這裡是我們回家之後還念念不忘的一家餐廳！

Barcelona is a hip Spanish tapas restaurant/bar that is great for outdoor dining if the weather permits.

Last day, we visited one of José Andrés’ restaurant again. Zaytinya, focuses on Eastern Mediterranean cuisine.

最後一天，繼續到José Andrés的餐廳Zaytinya，以中東、地中海美食呈現。

The weather when we were in DC was cloudy with a chance of thunderstorm, but barely even rained. My type of weather. Turned out that Hurricane Florence didn’t even hit Norfolk area, thank God! UN’s coworkers also came to DC for the evacuation, we thought we got a free long weekend trip. But at the same time we are watching and praying for NC and SC to quickly recover from the hurricane and flood damages.

這次天氣偶爾陰天，卻完全沒下雨。我最愛的天氣，卻輪到我被蚊子叮。颱風也沒經過維吉尼雅州，有驚無險。UN的同事們也來華府，我們都覺得自己像是得到了一個4天假期。但也希望北卡和南卡、被影響的地方能快點退潮不淹水。

Lunch at The Bee & The Biscuit

Hurricane Florence is coming! Stay dry and safe!

颱風要來了，大家要小心！

Today marks our 2-month living in VA, and I don’t think I ever experienced this much rain in this short period of time. While I’m writing this post, it’s pouring outside! We came here after our Saturday run at Virginia Beach yesterday, but the wait was one hour. I was starving after the run, and wasn’t sure if I wanted to wait that long.

今天是我們搬來維吉尼雅滿兩個月，這大概是我人生經歷最多下雨天的兩個月！光在寫這篇文章時，外面已是打雷下大雨的狀態。昨天跑完步，我們決定來這裡吃飯，但等待時間實在是太長又太餓只好換地方。

After church, we decided to come here again to see if the wait was shorter. Perhaps it’s because of the hurricane, the wait was less than 20 minutes. During our wait, we went to the surf shop next door. Small world, one of the employees’ sister works in UCSD Geisel Library. I used to study there during finals in college.

教會結束後，我們決定再試一次。可能是颱風要來的關係，這次只需要等二十分鐘。旁邊剛好有家衝浪店，想買新浪板的UN當然要去逛一下。好巧，店員的姊姊在我以前大學的圖書館工作。

Our friend P introduced this restaurant to us, and WE LOVE IT! I’m not a BBQ pork fan, but this place makes delicious BBQ. A little sour and sweet, but the vinaigrette didn’t overpower the overall flavor at all.

This girl won’t mind driving 30-minutes to enjoy their Pungo Pork Biscuit again.

朋友P介紹我們這家餐廳，我們超喜歡的。我一直不喜歡豬肉BBQ，但我好喜歡我點的這道。吃起來完全不會BBQ醬太多。肉有酸甜味，酸味也不會太強烈。

我完全不介意下次再開30分鐘來這裡吃飯！
